What are War movies?
These are perfect pictorial depiction of the battle fields all based upon the life of soldiers. Its all about the tragic and brave efforts of the war heroes. Most of these war movies are based upon the real wars that have already occured and some are just fictious wars. The battle fields are shown in such a way that the viewer feels like being there himself. The tanks, jet planes, and guns roaring around facinate a large community of movie watchers.

• The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) [War Movies] British WW2 prisoners of war are given the task, by their Japanese captors, of building a railway bridge in a harsh Asian jungle. Led by Col Nicholson, a stereotypical British officer, the prisoners score a moral victory over the Japanese by not only building the bridge, but running the whole show. Unknown to Nicholson, an allied demolition team are planning a spectacular opening for the bridge.

• The Longest Day (1962) [War Movies] Tells the story of the D-Day invasion of Normandy in WWII. There are dozens of characters, some seen only briefly, who together weave the story of five separate invasion points that made up the operation.

• Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo (1944) [War Movies] Based on a true World War II story, several B25 pilots and their crews volunteer for a secret mission which turns out to be the first bombing raid on mainland Japan , ingeniously and boldly launched from an aircraft carrier. Recently married Lt. Ted Lawson (Van Johnson) is among the volunteers who are placed under the command of Lt.Col. James Doolittle (Spencer Tracy). Attempting to reach recovery bases in China after successfully accomplishing the bombing, Lawson's bomber crashes on the Chinese coast where he and his crew are rescued by Chinese soldiers.

• Behind Enemy Lines (2001) [War Movies] Fighter navigator Chris Burnett wants out: he was looking for something more than the boring recon missions he's been flying. He finds himself flying the lone Christmas day mission over war-torn Bosnia. But when he talks pilot Stackhouse into flying slightly off-course to check out an interesting target, the two get shot down. Burnett is soon alone, trying to outrun a pursuing army, while commanding officer Reigert finds his rescue operation hamstrung by politics, forcing Burnett to run far out of his way.

• U-571 (2000) [War Movies] In the midst of World War II, the battle below the seas rages. The Nazi's have the upper edge as the Allies are unable to crack their war codes. That is, until a wrecked U-boat sends out an SOS signal, and the Allies realise this is their chance to seize the 'enigma coding machine'. But masquerading as Nazi's and taking over the U-boat is the smallest of their problems. The action really begins when they get stranded on the U-boat.
